If the G70 has a option list it has in Korea then the G70. On the domestic options  You can have a green interior and a manual trans!im guessing neither of those will make it to the US

Do you want a car that’s exceptionally fun to drive first and foremost: Alfa Romeo, no question. Do you simply want a luxury car: Hyundai.

Option C:

Looks like there is some leftover stock at dealers that you can get for the price of a base Giulia.

Giulia if I could get it with a stick in Canada, but that Genesis does look quite nice...

either, but only if it comes with a manual

The green dash may make it over for top trim level with the light tan steering wheel since it’s pretty subtle.

Kinja'd!!!

The purple dash definitely won’t make it out here though.

Kinja'd!!!

On that note, I wish we had a chance to get the G80 Sport with the blue interior and rear entertainment. It sucks knowing what you are NOT getting because it kind of ruins the cars you do get.

Wait, are people cross shopping these? I think of the G70 as a “ballin on a budget” car and the Giulia as a sports sedan.

Personally, I would go G70 because Hyundais are incredibly reliable, especially compared to Alfas.

I love that they have an option somewhere for a blue and purple interior.

But t hat’s not the right blue for me. Their blue is closer to turquoise. Some thing a shade or two darker would be nice.

I do want that purple though :D

Genesis any day    day because my mind just beat the shit out of the heart just now and told it to shut up. Seriously though it probably offers 85% of the driving experience based on initial reviews

Alfa is the easy choice here because lost of reasons but mainly:

I’ll tell you, p ersonally for me   w hy not ATS in general- so so CUE   and terrible   no physical   buttons interface, unusable back seat and   trunk, gauges  from a 90s Pontiac.

I’ll tell you why ATS-V despite that. That LF4 3.6 turbo v6.

I’m deeply conflicted because the Genesis is clearly better in many ways, but it’s ugly inside and especially out. I’m sure build quality is better in the Genesis, too, but if I’m spending the money and probably leasing a luxury car, I’d probably not consider either of these.

I’ve only driven the QV Giulia, and a 2.0 Stelvia.  The Giulia is a very nice car inside and out, and the 2.0 offers some nice power.  If you want a drivers car, I’d say  the Giulia.

Kinja'd!!! Tekamul > Wobbles the Mind

Giulia. The biggest drawback from that choice though, is being associated with the other owners. There are 2 Giulias locally, and they are each owned by the worst breed of douche bro, park anywhere , 60-in-a-school-zone   trash.

Oh come on. It’ll be fine. Not as good like the Hyundai maybe, but not horrible either. Based on older Alfas it’ll certainly be cheaper to keep on the road than a similar Audi.

Some styling elements irk me, it looks like a TLX with Bimmerangs on the fenders and an Audi maul. Also too much quilting inside. It’s busy.

To be fair, I wouldn’t buy a first year one either. There have been lots of issues with pre-production Quadrifoglio press cars, during reviews . Which might not say anything about actual production non-QV models at all, but I would take a step back and do my research first.

But having said that, pre-Giulia 21st century Alfas have been fine. Not Toyota-reliable, but absolutely fine. Which makes me want to give a car that drives (and, subjectively, looks) great at least a chance.

I couldn’t isolate what I disliked about it so much, but you nailed it. It’s overstyled and derivative, which are the worst things you can possibly do when designing a new car.

Kinja'd!!! fintail > Eric @ opposite-lock.com
07/16/2018 at 11:32

Kinja'd!!!1

I am sure it drives fine, but aesthetics matter.

I’m also still amused that they are finally calling these cars Genesis and not Hyundai Genesis, as many said they should have done a decade ago.

I actually think both these cars vary a lot depending on the color and specs you get them in. Those 5 spoke wheels on the blue car in the image above are hideous – but I think the options with more spokes on the G70 look really good. I’d also say the G70 doesn’t look good in red, especially out back – too much blending in with those huge tail lights (which agreed, look a bit dated). I’ve driven a friend’s Guilia and it’s a glorious place to sit (especially with that beautiful red leather)…but the G70 looks perfectly nice, curious to see how it feels in person. I’d be willing to wager it’s a much more intuitive and longer lasting as far as materials and technology goes too though.

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’d say the G70 takes the lead for me. They’re both going to depreciate like crazy – might as well get the car that you at least expect to give you the fewest headaches.

I’m sure it’s also reliable, but would most in this portion of the market choose it when they have many better-looking options ? I doubt it. Also, these two really don’t compete in the same segment, so it’s a strange comparison.

If they wanted it to be a luxury marquee, this really needed to happen.

Agreed on both points. Chevy Cruze infotainment combined with Chevy Vette drivetrain. I can find new 2016 ATS’s for sale on auto trader. Here’s a ‘16 for $57k
